The Office of Research Policy and Compliance (RPC) provides leadership in shaping, interpreting and implementing UC and UCLA research-related policies, procedures and guidance. The office operates under the direction of Ann Pollack, Assistant Vice Chancellor – Research, and reports to the Vice Chancellor for Research.
RPC serves as the administrative home of the Conflict of Interest Review Committee (CIRC). In addition to convening this faculty-peer review committee, RPC engages in consultations and other outreach activities relating to conflicts of interest and conflict of commitment regulations, policies and procedures. These interactions include guidance about entrepreneurial activities and proposed engagement with industry.
RPC supports the Interim Vice Chancellor for Research Ann R. Karagozian in fulfilling her role as campus Research Integrity Officer (RIO) in responding to, investigating and reporting allegations of research misconduct.
In addition, RPC acts as the designated resource for interpreting and implementing federal export control regulations and provides advice to the campus on regulations administered by the U.S. Departments of Commerce, State, and Treasury and others.
