Extramural Fund Management (EFM) provides financial management support of sponsored project funds for the UCLA research community. This includes: financial reporting, invoicing, cash management, accounts receivable management, financial compliance oversight (effort reporting, cost transfers, unallowable expenses), and audit support.  Fiscal Year Goals
  • Implement web-based Post Award Management System (PAMS) phase 1
  • Eliminate remaining transactional backlogs
  • Develop and implement an escalation process in key areas to improve department accountability
  • Document procedures to improve consistency
  • Conduct goal setting, mid-year feedback, and year-end review meetings for all EFM employees

Recent Achievements

During the past year, EFM has been busy working to improve its service as part of the RAPID Initiative. Our results include:

  • Implementation of a new organizational structure that aligns EFM teams by UCLA department rather than by external sponsor type
  • Financial reporting: improved on-time submission by 25% and reduced backlog by 45
  • Invoicing: improved on-time submission by 34% and reduced backlog by 66%
  • 99% on-time submission of ARRA quarterly reports

Effort Reporting Reminder: Fall 2012 and Winter 2013 Effort Reports Are Now Available!
The effort reports for the Fall 2012 and Winter 2013 quarters are now available in the Effort Reporting System. You can access your department’s effort reports at: http://ers.ais.ucla.edu and begin the certification process. The certification deadline is Monday, July 29, 2013.... » read more
