Message to the UCLA Community from the Vice Chancellor for Research

The University of California has long been dedicated to promoting an open teaching and research environment governed by a tradition of free exchange of ideas and timely dissemination of research results. This allows ideas to be shared freely among all members of our community, including faculty and students. At the same time, the University and the campus are committed to complying with federal regulations that exist to promote national security interests and foreign policy objectives by controlling the transfer of information, items, technology, and software. These regulations are known as Export Controls.
